FAQs
Who can enter?
Any amateur baker! Bakers younger than 18 can sign up in the kids/teens category. Entrants are asked to give a $10 minimum donation to Manna. Please sign up here by November 10.
What can be entered?
The contest has five categories: Best Apple, Best Fruit (anything other than apple), Best Sweet, Best Savory, Best Kids. You can enter more than one pie to compete in more than one category! Crusts and ingredients should be homemade, and it is strongly encouraged to have seasonal and farmers markets ingredients as the main ingredient.
On the day of the contest, what do I do?
Label the bottom of your pie with its name, your name, and your cell phone number. Your pie should be entered into the contest fresh, uncut, and without any “dressing” needed. Pie volunteers cannot decorate your cake with whipped cream or anything else.
Bring your pie to the pie tent located at the front of the market between 9:30 am and 10:00 am on Sunday, November 12. Judging will begin at 10:00 am. Winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony at 10:45 am, and slices will be sold to the public to benefit Manna starting at 11:00 am. You can pick up your pie plate shortly after 11:00 am.
What happens to the pies afterward? Thank you! For donating your pie to Manna for sale to the public!
Can I volunteer?
Yes! Email emilymaryclayman@gmail.com if you’d like to volunteer.
